From Skepticism to Gratitude

Regardless of how God can put His plans into action without us, being able to follow His plans and work through Him was truly a blessing!

My experience from the Cambodia Missionary trip 2024 was beyond my expectations. Spending a week in Cambodia gave me a wider perspective of God working not only in the church that I go to every Sunday, but in every single corner of this world.

I initially joined the missionary trip without much thought. As this was my second missionary trip, I felt that I always held this skepticism towards serving in a missionary trip, wondering how spending a week with people overseas will possibly change their hearts to follow Christ.

However, I am confident in saying that through the experiences in this missionary trip, I was given the answers and assurance that God really does work through us when we go to share His love.

During each day of the missionary trip, we started off our day with a QT session of reading the book of Jonah. I was able to reflect on my mindset and actions through the daily readings, and also relate how Jonah would’ve felt when God commanded him with directions to prophesy to Nineveh.

Despite Jonah’s initial reluctance to obey God’s commands, I was touched when I acknowledged that God continued to guide him in each direction he took and did not let go of him. I felt that I was able to humble myself through this acknowledgment and realise that choosing to serve in this missionary trip was also an opportunity to experience God’s grace in my personal life.

I was beyond grateful to be able to physically see the children and share such precious moments with them. Their pure and genuine enthusiasm during our sessions of praising God showed me how much God would love these children and hold a plan for them.

Throughout the last days, I found gratitude in serving in the missionary trip. Regardless of how God can put His plans into action without us, being able to follow His plans and work through Him was truly a blessing!
